Bagel Uprising

Bagel Uprising has grown from its humble beginnings at the Four Mile Run Farmer’s Market in September 2015 into a beloved cornerstone of Del Ray’s culinary scene. Tucked back in a cozy alleyway off Mt. Vernon Ave, this bagel shop has been serving the neighborhood with dedication since September 2019.

The secret to their success? Simplicity and authenticity. Bagel Uprising’s bagels are as straightforward as they come, made with just five ingredients—nothing more, nothing less. The focus here is on the classics: everything, garlic, onion, sesame, poppy, salt, and plain. They’ve even included cinnamon in the lineup, a flavor they jokingly admit might be a “moral lapse,” but their customers are more than pleased with this indulgence.

Handmade with care, each bagel reflects the shop’s commitment to quality. There’s no mass production here, just a strict adherence to what a bagel should be, ensuring every bite meets their high standards.

Open every day from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., except Tuesdays, Bagel Uprising is your go-to spot for a bagel fix. But get there early—if they sell out, they might close up shop a bit sooner. Beyond bagels, they offer a variety of spreads, including an array of cream cheese flavors available by the tub or slathered on your bagel. For those seeking something different, they have butter, peanut butter, hummus, Nutella, and more substantial options like egg salad, tuna salad, and whitefish salad.

The menu doesn’t stop at bagels and spreads. Bagel Uprising also offers a hearty selection of lunch sandwiches with portions larger than you might expect. From eggs with bacon and cheese to salmon and avocado, there’s plenty to start your day off right. And for lunch, you’ll find deli options and even pizza bagel sandwiches.

Though technically a to-go spot, Bagel Uprising boasts a good amount of outdoor seating with picnic tables and umbrellas, making it a great place to enjoy your meal on a nice day. The shop’s inviting atmosphere and commitment to quality make it clear why Bagel Uprising has been so warmly embraced by the Del Ray community. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast or lunch, this is a spot that delivers the kind of quality you’d expect from a small shop with a big heart.
