At the corner of Centreville Rd and Route 50 in Chantilly is a shopping plaza that is home to a few very different coffee shops. All of them offer coffee and a few pastries, as you would expect. Chateau de Chantilly offers that and so much more. As soon as you walk in, you immediately see it’s not your typical coffee shop. At first sight the place is almost overwhelming. The eclectic decor, comfortable sofas and chairs, and the high ceilings give this space a very different feel than what you’d typically expect. In a very unusual mix, the high ceilings give it a large vibe, yet, the mismatched places to sit give it a cozy feel at the same time. There are places to bring a laptop do to work as well as small tables to join a friend for a dessert and a drink.
Drinks are really where this place makes its mark. Chateau de Chantilly offers a large drink menu with plenty of options: coffee drinks you’d expect as well as plenty of less common drinks like pistachio and crème brûlée lattes, boba tea and real European drinking chocolate, made from melted chocolate rather than powder. They have a drink that will go with any of their dozens and dozens of sweets. They don’t make it easy to stay on your diet when you’re here. The self-serve island of delicious pasties and desserts has a lot of options and it’s not an easy choice to make. If the normal croissants, donuts, muffins weren’t enough, they have wonderful lesser known tasty treats like a chocolate cruffin (croissant meets muffin), crème brûlée donut, and the croll (croissant roll), to name a few. Most importantly, they also have a peanut butter dog treat on the menu for the most important person in your family.
Chateau de Chantilly says it’s inspired by Chateau de Chantilly in France and it does give off a European feel with a mix of American options and sizes. It’s a really great combination of a wonderful place to enjoy many delicious options to eat and drink. If you’re in the Chantilly area looking for something sweet, I think it’s easy to find something you’d love at the Chateau. In fact you’ll probably find a lot of things you’d like to eat. You’ll probably have to go back again and again. That’s a good thing since it’s a great place to bring a laptop and get work done, have a drink with a friend, stop and grab a quick bite, or just enjoy the ambience it offers. It really is a unique place I believe is worth experiencing for yourself.
