ESP Tea & Coffee

To say ESP Tea & Coffee has a personality is a huge understatement. The moment you walk in the door, you know this isn’t your typical coffee shop. It reminds you more of a college town spot where students go to meet, hang out, and study.

The walls are lined with art and albums, with not a single inch of space wasted. Vinyl is for sale, almost as you’d expect in such a unique place. The decor could be described as eclectic, going to the beat of its own drum. Unlike most coffee shops that keep it simple with muted color palettes and generic decor, ESP Tea & Coffee embraces a bold and vibrant aesthetic.

But the appeal of this place extends beyond its unique interior. ESP Tea & Coffee offers a full selection of coffee drinks and an extensive list of teas. If you’re in the mood for a treat to accompany your drink, they carry incredible delights from Pie Shop DC, featuring sweet and savory pies, as well as quiches. With rotating flavors daily, there’s always something new to look forward to, from traditional sweet pies like pecan to savory options like chicken pot pie, and even a unique pancake batter pie.

The vibe inside is relaxed, with most people working on laptops with headphones on. It’s the perfect atmosphere for reading or working quietly. There’s a fair amount of seating inside, but the real surprise is the three different outdoor seating areas. Along King St., you can watch the hustle and bustle of Old Town Alexandria. On the side, there are cozy tables perfect for catching up with friends, and in the back, a large space with picnic tables and chairs for groups.

Walking into ESP Tea & Coffee, you’re immediately struck by the vibrant atmosphere. From the art to the music and quirky details like a “Weird Al” Yankovic Chia Pet, there’s a lot to take in. The longer you stay, the more you feel a part of this special place. The welcoming staff and inclusive decor make it clear that all are welcome here. It’s a wonderful spot with great drinks and tremendous treats, making it a must-stop when in Old Town Alexandria.
