Jirani Coffeehouse

Founded in 2015 by Army veteran Ken Moorman, Jirani Coffeehouse has quickly become a beloved staple of Old Town Manassas. The name ‘Jirani’ is derived from the Swahili word for ‘neighbor,’ and true to its name, this coffee house fosters a deep sense of community and belonging.

Jirani Coffeehouse was established with a clear vision: “to build a love for coffee, community, and culture,” and it achieves this vision splendidly. The open floor plan, adorned with ample windows, allows sunlight to flood the space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It’s the quintessential look and feel one desires in a local coffee shop.

Within its walls, Jirani offers a variety of unique spaces tailored to different needs. There’s plenty of indoor seating perfect for enjoying a meal or getting some work done. The “library” room, featuring comfortable chairs and a selection of books, invites patrons to relax and lose themselves in a good read while savoring something from the menu. Outside, a charming sidewalk area directly across from the Manassas train station provides a quintessentially Virginian experience—sipping on delicious coffee while watching trains pass by.

Jirani boasts an extensive menu, offering a full range of coffee and tea options. For breakfast, patrons can enjoy sandwiches and waffles, while midday fare includes a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and pizzas. The coffee house also supports local businesses by offering an array of locally made desserts, such as cupcakes and cheesecakes, alongside in-house creations.

Ken Moorman’s vision of creating a welcoming space for everyone in the community has come to life in Jirani Coffeehouse. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the service is exceptional. These qualities make Jirani a must-visit destination. Whether you’re looking for a place to relax, work, or simply enjoy a great cup of coffee, Jirani Coffeehouse is the perfect spot.
