By no means is Leesburg a big town. It’s the kind of town where everybody knows everybody. Every town like that in America should have a comfortable local coffee shop. That’s exactly what King Street Coffee is. It has the feel of a small-town coffee shop in everything they do, right down to their loyalty program. It’s not an app, not a membership on your digital wallet. It’s actually paper cards stored in a drawer, alphabetically by the door. Come in, find your card, hand it to the cashier, and put it back. That’s the way things were done when they first opened their doors over 35 years ago. When you first look at the place, it doesn’t seem like anything has changed since then. I mean that in the best way possible. It’s an extremely small space with only a few tables inside and a couple of chairs outside. Most places this size typically want people moving in and out, not wanting people hanging around taking up space. That’s not the case here. With comfortable chairs, tables, and outlets, it’s a great place to sit and work if you’re lucky enough to find a chair. It’s where the locals go to work or just to grab a drink and something to eat. Other than coffee and coffee-type drinks, they also have gelato for your sweet tooth or affogato. You can tell they take pride in their coffee, with a few different roasts to choose from if you want a cup of just coffee. You can serve yourself drip coffee, and they do have decaffeinated ready as well. If you find yourself at King Street Coffee, I encourage you to try a baked good while you’re there too. Many of them are made by local bakers, and you can tell. Mini doughnuts, scones, and wonderful biscotti, among other things. This is what you think of when imagining a small-town local coffee shop. Leesburg has a lot of great places to offer. Don’t forget about this one next time you’re in town.
