Knead Wine

At Reasons 2 Eat, we typically highlight restaurants, but Knead Wine in Middleburg is an exception worth making. This wine shop is home to some of the best Neapolitan pizza in Northern Virginia and cookies so good they’re touted as “life-changing”—a claim I found hard to dispute after trying them.

In the heart of Middleburg, this small but mighty shop offers a broad selection of wines, ranging from $20 to $45 per bottle. Their food menu, though simple, is exceptional. With eight pizza options plus a create-your-own choice, each made with top-notch ingredients, Knead Wine goes the extra mile by making their own sausage just for pizza toppings.

While the pizza is to-go only due to the lack of seating in the shop, Middleburg’s main block offers ample outdoor seating nearby. The town’s charm makes it easy to enjoy your meal al fresco.

A standout feature of Knead Wine are their sommeliers and owner Jarad Slipp and Allie Nault, whose impressive credentials include degrees from multiple culinary schools in the U.S. and Europe and experience in Michelin-starred restaurants like The Inn at Little Washington. Their expertise and passion elevate the pizza experience to new heights.

Beyond pizza, Knead Wine’s cookies are a must-try. They offer just one variety: chocolate chip peanut. Made with local Virginia peanuts, these cookies are a unique twist on a classic favorite and are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.

There are exciting rumors of a second location opening in Purcellville this summer, though no official date has been announced. I’m eagerly anticipating the expansion and can’t wait to visit their next spot.

Knead Wine excels in its trifecta: wine, pizza, and cookies. When you do something this well, that’s all you need. Their commitment to quality over quantity shines through, ensuring that one visit will make Knead Wine a regular stop every time you’re in Middleburg.

Update July 25

The second location of Knead Wine has officially opened, with its soft opening during the last week of July. Now nestled in The Shoppes at Main & Maple plaza in Purcellville, this new spot promises to be a delightful addition to the local dining scene.

Knead Wine Purcellville offers the same incredible selection of wine, pizza, and cookies that fans of the Middleburg location love. However, there are some very welcome differences. The new venue boasts ample indoor and outdoor seating, creating a more restaurant-like atmosphere. The beautiful space maintains its impressive array of wine choices while continuing to serve the fantastic pizza menu and “life-changing” cookies.

With the new space comes an expanded menu, featuring plates perfect for pairing with wine. Diners can enjoy smaller plates and heartier dishes alike, such as olives, stracciatella and focaccia, Brussels sprouts salad, a ham plate, and spicy lamb ragu.

The expansion of this tremendous pizza spot is a wonderful addition to Northern Virginia—after all, you can’t have too much great pizza. Created by the talented Allie Nault and Jarad Slipp, this new location adds to their already impressive resumes.

Knead Wine’s staff is among the best in Northern Virginia, ensuring a top-notch dining experience. Purcellville has some of the best places to eat in the region, and Knead Wine is the perfect addition to its culinary family.
