La Tingeria

David Andres Peña began his culinary journey with a food truck and in 2021 added a brick-and-mortar establishment. In the heart of the vibrant taco scene of Falls Church, La Tingeria has quickly become a beloved spot for taco enthusiasts.

The restaurant itself is modest, featuring a small interior with a few stools and tables, complemented by additional outdoor seating along Lee Highway. Despite its size, the atmosphere is inviting and is exactly what you’d expect in a neighborhood taco shop.

La Tingeria sets itself apart with a 100% Halal menu, cleverly branding its unique cuisine as Hal Pastor. The menu boasts a variety of offerings including Tinga Chicken, Carne Asada, Tinga Beef, and more. These flavorful fillings are available in various forms such as tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and tostadas. Among the standout items are the birria tacos, available in both beef and goat versions, which have quickly become customer favorites.

While most menu items adhere to traditional recipes, some innovative creations add a delightful twist. One such dish is the birria egg rolls, a personal favorite that exceeded all expectations. This inventive fusion is destined to be a staple in many future orders.

Falls Church is home to several notable taco spots, and La Tingeria is undoubtedly among the top contenders. This sentiment is echoed by the Washingtonian, which included La Tingeria in its list of the top 100 restaurants in the DMV area this year.

With generous portions and rich, deep flavors, it’s no surprise that what began as a successful taco truck has evolved into a thriving restaurant. La Tingeria is gaining well-deserved recognition, and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re a taco traditionalist or an adventurous foodie, this spot is a must-visit.
