Mia's Italian Kitchen

You can spend months in Old Town Alexandria and never run out of great reasons to eat.  This area may not take up much space but it sure makes up for its size in quality. When it comes to food, isn’t quality better than quantity?  Actually, the best is big quantity of great quality food. That’s what Mia’s Italian Kitchen delivers.  Opened 7 days a week, Mia’s offers a vast menu but, if you want to really see all they have to offer, I recommend 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday for their all-you-can-eat brunch. It’s not often you find an all-you-can-eat restaurant that serves high quality food but they absolutely do. I was able to try many of their dishes and was so glad I did. Their brunch menu will differ from dinner, but it gave me enough reason to come back for dinner as well.

Mia’s offers Italian dishes inspired by owner Dave Nicholas’ Sicilian grandmother; that includes brick oven Sicilian pizza baked in an 800 degree oven.  Drinks from a large wine, beer and cocktail list can accompany your Italian fest. Mia’s is located near the waterfront, just a minute walk to the water.  Before or after you eat, be sure to take a walk down and enjoy the view of the Potomac River. I encourage you to make reservations because it will get very busy. Mia’s is part of ARP, Alexandria Restaurant Partners, which includes other great places like Palette 22, Ada’s on the River, and Barca, to name a few. As part of that group, you know what kind of service to expect. Seating upstairs, downstairs and outside - there isn’t a bad seat in the house. It just adds to the experience.

When near Old Town you have a lot of great places to choose from. If you’re in the mood for homestyle Italian food, a drink, comfortable atmosphere, great location, or all of the above, you should give Mia’s Italian Kitchen a try.  I’m already looking forward to going back for dinner.
