When it comes to making the most of what’s available, few establishments excel like Odd BBQ in Chantilly. Prepare to be impressed by their menu offerings and utterly amazed when you discover their culinary secrets. Founded in 2017 by Susan and Nick, both seasoned sous chefs with a passion for the kitchen, Odd BBQ emerged from the ashes of the beloved Mokomandy restaurant in Sterling, which sadly closed its doors in 2020 after earning the top spot on Northern Virginia Magazine’s best restaurants list. Personally, the closure of Mokomandy was a sad moment for me, as it was one of my favorite Nova dining spots. Therefore, it’s hardly surprising that Odd BBQ inherits the legacy of exceptional flavors and subtle Asian influences. Despite its unassuming size—nestled within Ono Brewery, the kitchen is in a compact 12x9 foot space—the depth of flavor produced here is nothing short of remarkable. Sharing tables with Ono Brewery, it’s the perfect pairing for beer enthusiasts, offering a wide array of local brews on tap, served by the ounce for those keen to sample without committing to a full pour. The ambiance exudes a relaxed Hawaiian vibe, complete with floral shirts, ukuleles, and tiki torches, providing ample indoor and outdoor seating options, including a tent for rainy days. While the setting may evoke a brewery, the food unmistakably celebrates the art of barbecue. With a diverse menu featuring everything from classic pulled pork and pit beef to gourmet sandwiches on brioche buns or cheddar cheese biscuits, Odd BBQ proves that great things truly do come in small packages. So, whether you’re a barbecue aficionado or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, a visit to Ono Brewery to savor Odd BBQ is sure to leave you craving more.
