Social Burger

In the last few years the fast casual burger spot have been popping up at every corner. It seems to be a recent trend around the country. The are usually all the same mostly the same with small differences. For the most part you've been to one you've been to them all. So when I came across Social Burger of Vienna, VA I was a bit surprised of the good reviews online. I had to find out what makes this a step above the rest. As soon as you walk in you can see it's a local spot. They have embraced the local community and based on reviews the community has embraced them in return. The walls are covered in photos from local schools and sports team. A wall devoted to pictures of people holding Social Burger stickers all over the world. When you walk in it gives you the same vibes as other burger places but the more you look around you notice it's really part of the town. Menus on the wall, specials written on butcher paper, self-serve drinks. The usual suspects. Not much seating unfortunately. My time there I did see they had a lot of to-go orders. Seems to be a big part of their business. Everything is made to order so it may take a little longer than a Five Guys. If it means the food is better, it's always worth the wait. I tried a double cheeseburger, fries and sweet potato waffle fries. All the ingredients were fresh and you could tell they work hard in the kitchen to get it right. The burger had a good size, good taste, and a superb bun. You could tell the pickles are homemade as well. I enjoyed the sweet potato waffle fries more than the normal fries. They were crispier with more flavor. The regular french fries were a bit underdone and not seasoned as much as I'd like. When I ordered my burger they didn't ask how I wanted it done. So I assumed it was a smash burger. You don't ask how you want a smash burger done since they're all done the same. It's not a smash burger, more of a typical burger patty. Unfortunately it was a bit overcooked. I understand that. It happens. Won't stop me from coming back again. Overall it was a great experience and I encourage people to give this local spot a try. Support your local businesses. Especially when they support their local community as well.
