Stracci

When you ask someone's opinion on a particular food you tend to get a lot of different responses.  Some might love it while others think it's just ok.  But when something is done extremely well, the way it's meant to be done, it'll show in the end. Because of that, Stracci has to be one of your favorite pizza in Northern Virginia or at least near the top of the list. Hard to find a pizza done better than what they've been creating the past few years.

After leaving Vermilion of Old Town Alexandria, chef Tom Cardarelli started to purse his dream of opening his own restaurant. Like many or us, those plans were altered by the pandemic. Rather than throwing in the towel, he adjusted and we are so lucky he did. He started in a 20 foot trailer, making and selling pizzas out of the back, but now it's turned into a restaurant that is not just one of the best pizza places in Northern Virginia but I'd say one of the best places to eat in the area.  You come for the pizza, and you come back for everything.

The restaurant itself is beautiful. The small building doesn't have a lot of seating options which gives the space a very quant, comfortable feel. It's warm and inviting. The decor, the fireplace, the staff, the pizza - all of it makes you glad you're there. The only drawbacks I found regard reservations. Only reservations for parties of 5 or more. So coming with 4 or fewer you should expect to wait. Limited seating, only opened for dinner, and closed Sunday and Mondays are drawbacks.  But if you're lucky enough to have dinner at Stracci I promise you won't be disappointed. I can't say enough great things about Stracci.  It looks like a wonderful neighborhood date night restaurant. It feels like a century old local establishment that's been in the family for generations. It tastes like you're in Italy. I really hope you're able to enjoy Stacci soon.  I can't wait to get back.
