With three Northern Virginia locations in Chantilly, Ashburn, and Alexandria, The Burger Shack is a local spot for burger enthusiasts. The original Shack opened its doors in Chantilly back in May 2016, setting the stage for its unique approach to the classic American burger joint.
As you’d expect, burgers take center stage on the menu. The specialty burger options are plentiful and creative, with offerings like the Swiss & Mushroom, Sunrise, and Ring of Fire. If you prefer to create your own, the Build-A-Burger option allows for endless possibilities. Choose from premium beef, fried chicken, grilled chicken, or turkey, and pair it with one of their dozen bun options, including gluten-free. With seven different cheeses and over two dozen toppings, your burger creation can be as unique as your taste buds desire.
If you’re in the mood for something other than a burger, The Burger Shack has you covered. Their hot dogs, generously loaded with toppings, are what I like to call a “three-napkin hot dog.” For non-red meat options, there are chicken tenders, wings, and even fish. Surprisingly, for a burger joint, the vegetarian offerings are extensive. Options include spinach burgers, black bean burgers, Beyond Burgers, falafel, lentil, tofu, and mushroom burgers. I didn’t even know so many vegetarian burgers existed.
Though salads are available, The Burger Shack isn’t the place you’d typically seek them out. However, if you really want one, they have those too.
The sides are another highlight. Traditional fries come with a variety of toppings, such as chili cheese, loaded fries, sweet potato, garlic parmesan, and curly fries. Onion rings, mac & cheese bites, tots (which can also be loaded), mozzarella sticks, and fried pickles round out the options.
No burger joint would be complete without milkshakes, and The Burger Shack offers plenty. Despite the extensive menu, they pride themselves on using premium Angus beef that is never frozen.
