Some of the best days Northern Virginia has are the ones with light crisp of fall air, the sun out but the need for long sleeves. Whether it's fall or early spring those days are why places like Occoquan exist. A small town on the Occoquan River these few blocks have wonderful places to sit, relax, take in the sights and over course eat. For such a small area it boasts a good number of places to find something to satisfy you. This includes The Spot on Mill Street. This unique place has it's very own personality. If you need a coffee, a sandwich, burger, salad, heck even a shirt, mug or a ghost. They've got you covered. What was once a small house has been converted into 4 small areas for eating or their wine tastings. The walls filled with wine bottles upstairs shows they really take their wine tasting Fridays seriously. If you want something with a little more kick they also have bourbon and cigar nights. If you come early they have breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, bowls and biscuits and gravy. Along with bakery items. Later in the day they have plenty of sandwich options, salads, and flatbreads. If you don't want a full meal and want to relax in their inviting space, they have cheeseboards as well to pair perfectly with the wine. If you find yourseslf in Occoquan looking for a light snack a coffee or a meal you might want to give The Spot a try. Only a few hundred feet from the bridge overlooking the river parking might not be the easiest but almost anywhere in this small town is walking distance. Even if you aren't hungry go ahead in. Check out their shirts, hats and mugs. At least you can say you were in the same house George Washington sat in. The story is on their website. Along with some ghost stories. If you do happen to see one, let them know. They might put it online. Or maybe you just had too much bourbon.
