The Whole Ox

If you love burgers, The Whole Ox is a must. If you love fried chicken sandwiches, The Whole Ox is a must. Honestly, The Whole Ox is a must for anyone who appreciates exceptional food.

This small butcher shop serves some of the best burgers and chicken sandwiches you’ll find anywhere in Northern Virginia. Their commitment to quality is clear: they source their meats and produce from local farms, ensuring that everything they serve is fresh and top-notch.

Despite its size, The Whole Ox offers a wide range of incredible products. Whether you’re looking for premium ingredients for your next meal or a delicious bite to eat on the spot, this place has you covered. It’s the kind of spot that makes you wish it was closer, and worth the drive if it’s not.

The staff is nothing short of amazing. You can tell they believe in what they’re creating, and that enthusiasm is infectious. They have every reason to take pride in their craft, and it translates into the food.

The menu is simple but perfectly curated—two burgers, a fried chicken sandwich, steak, pork BBQ, soup, salad, and fries. That’s it. No frills, just pure execution. And they’ve nailed it.

When I asked a local for a recommendation, they didn’t hesitate: get both the burger and the chicken sandwich. After trying both, I have to agree—you can’t choose just one without regretting missing out on the other. In fact, the chicken sandwich may be the best I’ve had in the entire region.

The Whole Ox easily earns a spot on our “Best of NoVA - Burgers” list. Everything here is a 10/10—the staff, the food, the overall experience. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

If you’re on the hunt for a top-tier butcher shop, The Whole Ox will blow you away. And if you’re not nearby, trust me—pack a cooler and make the trip. For burger and chicken sandwich lovers, this is a destination spot. Just keep in mind they’re closed Sundays and Mondays.

I can’t wait to return. The Whole Ox has quickly become one of my favorite places for lunch in Northern Virginia, and it’s a must-try for anyone who appreciates great food done right.
