Opened just a couple of months, Tiger Dumplings in Arlington is already getting quite a reputation. The reviews online are tremendous and rightfully so. I had to see what all the hype was and it wasn’t just hype. Tiger Dumplings lives up to the billing. Located in Clarendon, about 2 blocks west of the Clarendon metro station, the unassuming front door hides a beautiful restaurant inside. With a name like Tiger Dumplings it’s obvious what their specialty is. They do make great dumplings but they also make so much more. I was able to try a few different items from the menu and none was less than fantastic. I encourage you to try at least one, if not more than one, of their dumplings. Make sure you don’t miss out on any of their great appetizers or noodles and rice dishes. Dishes similar to dumplings are their pot stickers and soup dumplings, which are becoming more popular. The wonton soup, scallion pancake, pickled vegetables are all great. I was encourage by the server to order the TaiBei fried pork chop noodles. Never would have considered it but he said that was his favorite. I’m glad he recommended it. When I go back I’d order it again, unless I’m by myself. It’s a lot of food and surprisingly sweet with almost a molasses hint to the noodles. Not what I was expecting but a pleasant surprise.
From the ambience, to the service, and, obviously, to the food, this place is a must. If you like dumplings this place can’t be missed. If dumplings aren’t really your thing, I encourage you to give this place a try anyway. I enjoyed more of their menu than just the dumplings and the service is superb. Tiger Dumplings is an easy walk from the metro, if the metro is easy for you. There is some street parking, which isn’t always the easiest but Tiger Dumplings definitely is worth it. Be sure to get to Tiger Dumplings before it’s too difficult to get a table because this place is going to fill up fast. Add this restaurant to the list of great reasons to eat in Clarendon.
